Baseball 1984-1985

A Davis County HS graduate, Kevin helped pitch the Falcons into the Junior College World Series in 1985. He finished that campaign with a record of 7–2 and pitched a number of key games on the Falcons' road to the third World Series appearance in school history. For the season, he allowed only 48 hits and struck out 78 in 63 innings. After he was chosen by the San Francisco Giants in January of his sophomore season and opted not to sign, Kevin was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the fourth round of the 1985 Major League Baseball Draft. He played with the Tigers from 1989–1992 before going to the Colorado Rockies in the 1992 expansion draft. Kevin was a member of the Rockies pitching staff for five seasons and was a key part of the first Colorado team to reach the postseason playoffs. His best season with the Rockies came in 1996 when he won 17 games and pitched 213 innings. He spent just short of nine years in the big leagues and pitched professionally for 15 seasons.
