Ottumwa, IA – Freshman Sydney Anderson (Elkhart, IA/ been selected to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Softball All-America Third-Team, announced by the NJCAA DI Softball Committee on Tuesday (June 7, 2022).

Anderson joins teammate Destiny Lewis (Indianola, IA/Indianola) on the NJCAA All-America team after Lewis earned second-team honors. The freshman duo was also selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American First-Team, announced by the organization on Saturday (June 4, 2022).

Anderson's All-American honor from the NJCAA adds to a lengthy list of accolades obtained throughout the 2022 season. The freshman was named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Offensive Player of the Year and earned NJCAA All-Region XI First-Team and NFCA Midwest Region First-Team honors. Anderson, who earned NJCAA National Player of the Week honors in the fall as a member of the Indian Hills Women's Soccer program, garnered a pair of NJCAA DI Softball Player of the Week honors during the spring season.

Anderson's offensive production from the three-hole in the lineup powered the program to its most runs scored in a single season (542) since the 2005 team scored 568 runs. Anderson became the first player in school history to break the 30-home run mark and finished the season tied wit Lewis with a school record 31 home runs.

Anderson and Lewis become the 47th and 48th individuals to earn NJCAA All-American honors in school history. As a program, the Warriors have now earned five NJCAA All-American selections over the last three seasons.
