Ron served Indian Hills as an athlete, coach, athletic director, dean, and instructor for more than forty years. He was a member of the Falcons football team during the 1964 and 1965 seasons and was named first–team all–conference both seasons. After graduating from Centerville Junior College, Ron attended Drake University where he led the team in rushing during his junior and senior seasons. Following his career at Drake, Ron played in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings and the Cleveland Browns. In 1971 he returned to Centerville as an assistant football coach and was on the staff when the Falcons won their first-ever conference title later that year. He continued his coaching career at Drake before returning to IHCC. Ron had roles as Indian Hills athletic director, dean of students and as an instructor in the arts and sciences division before his retirement from the college. He has continued to act as an adjunct instructor even after retiring.
